Ron Maggio was born and raised in Fredonia, New York. He received a B.A. in Fine Arts from the State University of New York at Fredonia and his M.F.A. from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

He taught studio arts, including drawing, painting, and design for over 40 years in colleges and museums.
